On 17th November 2005, the Emir of Qatar H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence new sports dome. This new sports hall is the worlds largest air-conditioned indoor facility of its kind under an architecturally unique edifice consisting of two semicircular shells.
